A turtle family decided to go on a picnic. The turtles, being naturally
slow about things, took seven years to prepare for their outing. Finally
the turtle family left home looking for a suitable place. During the
second year of their journey they found a place ideal for them at last!
For about six months they cleaned the area, unpacked the picnic basket,
and completed the arrangements. Then they discovered they had forgotten
the salt. A picnic without salt would be a disaster, they all agreed.
After a lengthy discussion, the youngest turtle was chosen to retrieve
the salt from home. Although he was the fastest of the slow moving
turtles, the little turtle whined, cried, and wobbled in his shell. He
agreed to go on one condition: that no one would eat until he returned.
The family consented and the little turtle left.
Three years passed and the little turtle had not returned. Five
years…six years… then on the seventh year of his absence, the oldest
turtle could no longer contain his hunger. He announced that he was
going to eat and begun to unwrap a sandwich.
At that point the little turtle suddenly popped out from behind a tree
shouting, ‘See! I knew you wouldn’t wait. Now I am not going to go get

Boss Type 1 – Executive –
The best boss type. This Boss is an effective team leader. Uses high degree of interpersonal communication to achieve goals.How does one identify an Executive boss?
Simple-look for these traits-
1. Will be a good communicator. Good personality and the gift of the gab.
2.Will create a professional environment. So personal favorites!
3.Committed to work and targets.
4.Decisive.To the point and a motivator.
Boss Type 2 – Benevolent autocrat-
Quite like an executive in nature with an exception of being too conscious about performance. Member who don’t perform in his team get a hard time! Members who do well, are suitably rewarded! This type is an absolute finisher of tasks and does not let emotions/personal equations ruin his perchance of result-orientation.
Boss Type 3 – Developer –
Another positive type. More empathizing than sympathizing kind-of-personality. Develops and coaches team and is trusted by most.
Boss Type 4 – Bureaucrat –
A mix between positive and negative. This type is generally a good type baring a few negatives that sometimes cannot be overlooked.For instance, as the name suggests, this type is a pure Bureaucrat in the rightful sense. However, there is always a tendency towards shrugging the blame onto to the poor team if things fail. This type just doesn’t like to take the blame! A Bureaucrat will always work on the laid down procedures and any deviation from those causes him worry.
Boss Type 5 – Autocrat –
As the name suggests, a downright Hitler variety, capable of being disliked and feared amongst fellow team members. Not a good person-professionally or personally.
Has a very short-term perspective of things.No external-orientation, a loner and depressed soul.
Boss Type 6 – Missionary-
A typical wag-a-tail kind of boss. Has no personality. He has no command whatsoever. Takes active interest in team’s personal lives. Always looking for acceptance. Pleasant and respectful. A good person but an absolute bad boss! Cannot lead and always looks for support.
Boss Type 7 – Compromiser-
Another negative type. Too much of a slob than a boss!
Can be very interfering. Not decisive at all.Tends to take advantage of weak links in the team. Gets work done by unfair means at times. Unreasonable and harsh.
Boss Type 8 – Deserter-
Oh boy! A very negative type. Runs away in midst leaving the team high and dry. Highly ambiguous nature and confused personality. Justifies and always ready with explanations for mistakes. Does not cooperate and has a tendency to retaliate and cause harm if cornered and put under pressure. Gives up easily. Tries to portray a very confident and in-control persona but in reality is just the opposite.
These types may come in combination or individually. In a more matter-of-fact way, all individuals have one more of these traits. But in certain cases a particular trait is more dominant while the other maybe latent.

This attitude has brought fantastic benefits not only to the employees but to the 3M Company itself Many times, a spark of an idea turned into a successful product has boosted 3M’s profits tremendously.
A scientist in 3M’s commercial office took advantage of this 15 percent creative time. This scientist, Art Fry, came up with an idea for one of 3M’s best-selling products. It seems that Art Fry dealt with a small irritation every Sunday as he sang in the church choir. After marking his pages in the hymnal with small bits of paper, the small pieces would invariably fall out all over the floor.
Suddenly, an idea struck Fry. He remembered an adhesive developed by a colleague that everyone thought was a failure because it did not stick very well. “I coated the adhesive on a paper sample,” Fry recalls, “and I found that it was not only a good bookmark, but it was great for writing notes. It will stay in place as long as you want it to, and then you can remove it without damage.”
Yes, Art Fry hit the jackpot. The resulting product was called Post-it! and has become one of 3M’s most successful office products.
